Dear [Your Ward Director's Name],

I am writing to express my enthusiastic support for the efforts of the City of Little Rock to close the loop on the Arkansas River Trail. As a resident and avid outdoor enthusiast, I believe that completing this trail will not only enhance the recreational opportunities for the citizens of Little Rock but also provide numerous economic, environmental, and social benefits to our community.

“Closing the Loop” refers to making the section of the Arkansas River Trail between Gill Street (to the west) and North Street (to the east) a safe corridor for traveling by foot or bicycle. This section is currently unsafe with a too narrow sidewalk and multiple busy street and entrance crossings. It has not had a substantial upgrade to be considered a part of the Arkansas River Trail which opened over 20 years ago.

The Arkansas River Trail is already a beloved asset to our city, offering stunning views of the river, opportunities for walking, running, cycling, and enjoying the natural beauty of our region. However, the current incomplete loop presents challenges for users and limits the full potential of this incredible resource. Closing the loop would not only create a seamless and accessible pathway for recreational activities but also promote connectivity between different neighborhoods and businesses along the route.

Moreover, completing the loop on the Arkansas River Trail aligns with our city's commitment to sustainability and active transportation. Encouraging residents and visitors to walk or bike along the trail reduces reliance on cars, decreases traffic congestion, and promotes healthier lifestyles. Additionally, investing in green infrastructure like the Arkansas River Trail contributes to the overall attractiveness and livability of our city, attracting new residents, businesses, and tourists.
Furthermore, closing the loop on the trail presents opportunities for community engagement and collaboration. I believe that involving local stakeholders, including residents, businesses, advocacy groups, and government agencies, in the planning and implementation process will ensure that the completed trail meets the diverse needs and interests of our community.

In conclusion, I urge you and the rest of the Little Rock City Board to continue your efforts to close the loop on the Arkansas River Trail. By doing so, you will not only enhance the quality of life for current and future generations of Little Rock residents but also contribute to the prosperity and vitality of our city.

Thank you for your attention to this matter, and please do not hesitate to reach out if you require any further information or support.

Sincerely,
